Dilwara Jain Temples of Mount Abu

The world renowned Dilwara Jain Temples of Mount Abu, are noted for excellent architecture and exquisite carvings on marbles. It is hard to believe that the magnificent shrines are work of human hands.Dilwara Temple60001

These temples are the major attraction of Mount Abu. The amazing temples  set on a hill amidst grove of old mango trees have quite simple exteriors and one is quite unprepared for the splendour of the interior that awaits. These temples were built between 11th and 12th centuries.

In my opinion these temples should have been one of the wonders of the world. But anyway, I feel lucky to witness such wonders. I just do not want to repeat all the photographs again here, but at the same time I do not want to deprive my followers too, therefore, please visit my post on other blog for some more such pics.

NotePhotographs are the scanned copy of photo album available outside temple complex as Camera and mobile are strictly prohibited in the temple complex.

    • Thank you so much,Vikey! But the pics are not mine as the Camera and Mobile are strictly prohibited there! These are from the photo album purchased there!!

      • There won’t be much difference ! In pics, you cant make out the difference of colors of joint pieces which used for restoration of the works. Most of the noses are broken and later restored by new piece of marble but color difference you can see. That always be there. These were destroyed by Allauddin Khilji as said by the local guides. Except those small repairing (though difficult to find out) it is like pictures, marvelous, beyond imagination!.
