Venue inside the Palace, getting ready for a marriage
After independence of India in 1947, the Mewar Kingdom, along with other princely states of Rajasthan, merged with the democratic India. However, the successor Maharanas retained their ownership of the palaces in Udaipur. They are now running the palaces by creating a trust, with the income generated from tourism (Entry fee and Camera fee are exorbitantly high)and the heritage hotels that they have established in some of their palaces. This renting out the Palace premises for marriage etc also is the another source of income. It is learnt that they charge INR 1 Crore (about USD 140,000) for few hours for a event like marriage etc.
