Week long Khajuraho Dance festival takes place every year in this season when prominent dancers of India comes there to participate in the program. They perform in the evening in front of the Erotic Temples. In the twilight area it gives a sense as if the sculptures on the temple came alive and descended on the floor.
I have seen, in Paris, the great extravaganza LIDO show where they stage the Khajuraho, India theme among other themes, with an idea to show the beautiful, erotic sculptures live on the stage by the beautiful topless dancers. Of course, the environment of that show differs from this Indian Festival of Khajuraho, so both are not the same and one should not try to compare. It came to my mind because of its greatness to be staged on a great show for years and the engineering behind the show, to bring a temple with the “living” sculptures on the stage is marvelous.
This year fest has started on 20th Feb and will continue till 26th Feb 2013.
